About Us

Our Mission

Reflection Family Interventions was founded by a husband and wife with a simple yet impactful purpose: to help families who are merely surviving the mental health or addiction struggles of a loved one and guide them onto a path of transformation to thrive.

We believe in the power of hope, resilience, and community. Our goal is to guide families through the challenges they face, providing them with the tools and support they need to navigate their unique journeys with confidence and strength. Together, we build a brighter future—one where families not only survive but thrive.

Our Approach

At Reflection Family Interventions, our approach is shaped by a wealth of experience, encompassing several decades and engagements with thousands of families within the recovery space. We focus on a crucial but often overlooked component of recovery: the family system. Despite the prevalence of standard programs that rigorously follow insurance mandates and boutique programs that offer unique patient care, a common shortfall exists—they frequently neglect the profound impact on families, offering only rudimentary psycho-education and directing them to Al-Anon for support.

Our commitment is rooted in addressing this oversight. We recognize that the traditional, uniform approaches are insufficient as each individual’s recovery journey is distinct. To this end, our interventions are custom-designed to address the specific needs of each family, ensuring a personalized and impactful pathway to recovery.

We champion transparency and collaboration, emphasizing the importance of open communication and mutual understanding. This approach not only empowers families but also enables them to take an active role in the recovery process. By focusing on the entire family unit, we facilitate a holistic recovery environment, ensuring that no aspect of the family’s needs is neglected.

Our dedication extends beyond mere treatment; it is about nurturing a supportive, understanding, and responsive framework that stands with each family through every step of their recovery journey.

Andrew Engbring

Andrew Engbring

Founder, CEO

Andrew’s passion for recovery stems from his personal experiences and challenges faced within his own family. He began his professional career in 2013 in Encinitas, California, managing a sober living home for young men in early recovery entering college. Under the guidance of a great mentor, Andrew learned to challenge the norms of the recovery industry, recognizing that abstinence is merely the first step in the journey to recovery.

Over the next several years, Andrew dedicated himself to the collegiate recovery space, supporting young men and women as they balanced their educational and recovery journeys. During this time, he noticed a significant gap in the support provided to families by treatment providers. This realization led him to work closely with parents seeking effective guidance to help their adult children.

Naturally drawn to the intervention and treatment space, Andrew has worn many hats throughout his career. He has held various roles, including Housing Director, Director of Admissions, Director of Business Development, Program Director, Director of Operations, and CEO. His extensive experience and dedication culminated in the founding of Reflection Family Interventions with his wife.

The inspiration for Reflection Family Interventions came from the encouragement of previous clients and industry colleagues. Andrew and his wife established the organization with a clear and impactful mission: to guide families from merely surviving the mental health or addiction struggles of a loved one to thriving on a path of transformation.

Andrew has never forgotten that everyone who contacts him for help is a life at stake. He seeks to hold the message that the only true recovery begins with abstinence and is realized when the family is on a journey of healing together. He holds training and education in intervention, psychology, family systems, and music. As an Eagle Scout, he enjoys spending his free time outdoors with his wife, daughter, and dogs, engaging in activities such as camping, hiking, and traveling.

Shahar Engbring

Shahar Engbring

Co-Founder, Director of Admissions

Shahar’s path to founding Reflection Family Interventions with her husband is rooted in a personal journey marked by resilience, compassion, and a profound commitment to supporting families navigating through mental health or substance use challenges.

Shahar was born and raised in a small town in Israel. Growing up, Shahar witnessed firsthand the impact of these issues within her own family, igniting a passionate drive to make a difference. Shahar’s career began while serving in the military. Shahar served as a social worker and commander in the Israeli Defense Force, primarily focusing on supporting soldiers facing psychological challenges. Her role involved providing soldiers with support, resources, and guidance while fostering healthy family dynamics to bolster their well-being.

After her service, Shahar moved to the United States to further her education. She pursued a career in the jewelry industry for several years. However, her unwavering passion for mental health, addiction, and family recovery eventually led her back to her true calling: helping families in crisis.

Shahar and her husband founded Reflection Family Interventions with a clear mission: to empower families often overlooked in the recovery process. Her approach emphasizes holistic healing, where families are integral to their loved ones’ journey towards recovery. Shahar is dedicated to bridging gaps in support systems, ensuring families receive the guidance and resources needed to navigate these complex challenges together.

Outside of her professional endeavors, Shahar enjoys spending time with her husband, Andrew, their beloved daughter, and their two dogs. They love to travel, camp, and hike.

Through her leadership and personal commitment, Shahar inspires hope and resilience within her community. She strives to bring families to a place of healing, understanding, and unity.
